4DOS v6.00B Bug, I guess…

OK, you have opened the victim, now take a look to the section begin/end.
You will see that those commands are almost identical (i.e. echo command),
except that the 1st one uses @select function, which IMO couses the problem.
Just put ‘em in a batch file and try it out!

:begin
echo Press ENTER, press ENTER one more time! > 4bug.dat
if .==. (echo %@select[4bug.dat,7,1,9,79] %+ echo 2 TIMES!?!)
if .==. (echo Release A or B, %+ echo it’s a bug one anyway!)
:end

Re: Doesn't 4dos multitask ?

It sounds to me like you need to check the
short cut which launches 4DOS. Right click on
your short cut, go to properties and make sure
that you do not have "Suspend In Background"
checked off. And you might want to play around
with the idle sensitivity gauge.

Hope I helped.

Cardsoft for PCMCIA/SCSI

The short of it is I need socket drivers that are made by a company
called System Soft.  The software is called "Cardsoft", the version
I need is 3.1, I think.

The longer story is I purchased a laptop from onsale.com.  It’s an AT&T
Globalyst 200, it came with nothing installed.  Apparently NCR now
handles that product line.  NCR tech support gave me the info about the
socket drivers I need.  NCR can sell me the complete Globalyst 200
software set for $55.  All I really need is the driver so the machine
will recognize the SCSI card on the PCMCIA port.  The SCSI card came
with a Sony CD (model PRD650).  The SCSI card is actually an Adaptec
APA1460.  Both Adaptec and Sony referred me to the laptop manufacturer
for the necessary drivers.

Any help/opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Suggestion for "cdd" command

In a (near) future release of 4DOS, how about changing the behavior of
the "cdd" command when no parameter is given.  Currently it just prints a
usage message.  It’d be much more useful if it emulated the behavior of
"cd" and printed the current drive and directory.

I ask for this because I have "cdd" aliased to "cd".  Many third-party
batch files seem to rely on "cd" returning the current directory, and
this breaks them.

Executong shortcuts?

Does anyome know of a way such that 4NT finds shortcuts similiar to
EXE files (without giving the extension.LNK)? I can execute a
shortcut by explicitly adding the extension (e.g. "winzip.lnk"), but I
have found no way to omit the extension.

I have tried to make .LNK executable by defining

SET .LNK=

but this doesn’t define an environment variable.
And the combination

alias execlink=%0
SET .LNK=execlink

led to an endless recursion in 4NT
