Test for existence

I’m trying to make a little 4OS2 script to check if a directory
exists, and if not, create it.  I’m assuming that "IF" or "IFF"
conditional ought to be able to do this, but is there a variable
function that checks for the existence of a file or directory and
returns an error level for IF to work on? Kind of like the "test
-f filename" command in Unix?

Agreed.  Many companies have "gotten religion" about this WWW
stuff and have replaced their traditional nntp support servers
with web-based discussions.  Like you, I fail to see the appeal
of this. Web-based discussion groups are slow, cumbersome, and
only work on-line.  With an nntp-based support area I can
download everything in a batch on-line and peruse it later
off-line.  This is both fast and efficient, in contrast to
web-based solutions.  Why fix something that isn’t broken?

How to increase the display/buffer lines?

Under windows NT it is possible to configure the shell window so that
the window can display a certain number of lines (eg.window could be
configured to display 40 lines), and the shell can buffer a certain
number of lines(eg.window could be configured to buffer 800 lines).  If
the lines buffered is greater than the lines displayed, then a scroll
bar will be added to the shell window.

Is it possible to do this with 4dos under win9x?  I’m going nuts only
being able to see around 20 lines of stdout.

Thanks for your help!

Marko.
